Cancellation Policy
What happens when plans change.
This policy explains how guest cancellations, host cancellations and refunds are handled on the platform.
How PoolSpaces works
We are a marketplace that facilitates bookings and payments between guests and hosts. We do not own, operate, staff or supervise any pool.
Hosts are independent owners or authorised operators. They are responsible for their premises, equipment, compliance and the condition of the space during a booking.
Guests are responsible for their own group, supervising children, following host rules and using the pool at their own risk.
1. Guest cancellations
When a guest cancels, the refund amount depends on the cancellation policy selected by the host for that listing. The host's policy is shown on the listing page and at checkout before payment.
2. Platform default tiers
Unless a host chooses a different policy, the default cancellation terms are:
- More than 48 hours before the booking: full refund of the booking subtotal.
- Between 24 and 48 hours before the booking: 50% refund of the booking subtotal.
- Less than 24 hours before the booking: no refund of the booking subtotal.
Cleaning fees, service fees and security deposits may be handled separately.
3. Host cancellations
If a host cancels a confirmed booking, the guest receives a full refund. The cancellation is recorded in the host's reliability history and may affect search ranking, eligibility to host and account status.
4. Cleaning and service fees
Cleaning fees may be refunded in full if no booking took place. The non-refundable service fee is retained by PoolSpaces to cover processing costs. Security deposits are returned separately if no damage claim is made.
5. Extenuating circumstances
We may override a cancellation policy in cases such as documented emergencies, severe weather, or other circumstances outside a guest's or host's control. Documentation may be required.
6. Changes to a booking
Date, time, duration or guest-count changes must be agreed by the host through the platform. The cancellation policy applies to any change treated as a cancellation.
